Backlinie first stepped into the world of cinema in 1975 when she played the character Chrissie Watkins in Steven Spielberg's book-based blockbuster film. In opening sequence, her character goes skinny dipping in the ocean only to become a victim of a great white shark attack, leading to her disappearance beneath the waves amidst bone-chilling screams. Her scene in Jaws frightened millions of people to swim in the ocean.
In a light-hearted turn of events, Backlinie collaborated with Spielberg once again to humorously recreate the infamous scene in his film "1941". Following her success in 'Jaws', Backlinie worked as stunt person in various movies and television projects. Some of her works include 'The Great Muppet Caper', 'Day of the Animals', and the hit TV series 'The Fall Guy'.
Susan Backlinie leaves behind her husband, Harvey.
